Auntie Em's Guide to Life

A guide to all the important things in life- marriage, family, cooking, gardening, reading, travel, Christian living… And whatever else grabs my attention!

Meet Auntie Em

Hi! My name’s Melinda and I’m a teacher. Not just a school teacher- I am that too, but I love teaching anybody anything. Nothing scratches my itch like somebody saying that something I said helped them, or something I showed them made a difference. I like to cook, to read, to garden. I’ve lived over 50 years (just a little bit!); I’ve been married to the same man (He always signs himself “Mr X”) for over 30 years; and all of our children are self-sufficient, tax-paying adults who we love to visit and socialize with. I love the Lord and have served in 2 churches throughout my married life. Our house is paid for and we have no debt.

You can read my Guide to Life here, and see more about it.

I say all that to say– my life works. It might seem dull to some- no drama or fireworks. But I love it. Contentment and peace– that’s what you’ll find at Auntie Em’s house. Sit down and visit a while, and you can find it too.

I have admired your children, your home, your plants, your marriage, your relationship with your kids, and treasured the friendship you and your family have with my daughter. I was wondering who Auntie Em was, and lo, and behold, who did I find?! Congrats on getting into the world of blogging. I think everyone will find it helpful and interesting!

    Melinda,
I have a question for you. I am going to feature 30 different people on my blog beginning Jan. 1, 2013. Would you be interested in writing your testimony, or talk about how God brought you through a really tough time in your life? It may help others who are going through a tough time as well. I will be doing a post a day, and you would get one of those days. What do you think?

Thank you for participating! I know your story will help others in their faith walk. Would you be able to submit your story by mid December? Will that give you enough time?
You can send it to: optimisticgladness@gmail.com
Thank you so much for participating. I know God is going to use these stories for His glory!
        Thanks again.

Love your description here!! -my life works. It might seem dull to some- no drama or fireworks. But I love it. Contentment and peace– I agree! My life probably seems dull to many too, but I’m thankful for so many things about it. I’m from KS, so the name of your blog caught my eye. And I’m very much a fan of my marriage and I have a heart for the many marriages that are struggling.
